Renovation work is finally complete! Well, we’ll probably always have a few little projects to work on while we live in the RV full time, but all the major projects have been checked off the list and we’re ready to move in!

Before a trip to Missouri for Christmas, we re-finished our countertops and installed a new sink. We went with concrete countertops and are really happy with how they turned out. We followed tutorials from 188sqft and Young House Love to put thin layers of cement over our existing countertops. They turned out great, but it took longer than expected with the freezing temps – dry time was MUCH longer than it should have been.

Other projects we took on were custom storage for shoes under the couch, a bigger closet for the girls, a standing desk for Nick, and a custom dinette table. Rachel recovered dinette cushions and the couch while Nick installed solar panels and connected it to an Inergy Kodiak battery system.

All in all, it was a TON of work, especially with the unexpected water damage repair in the beginning of the process. Despite the long hours and hard work – and nothing ever being a “quick project” like we’d think it would be – it was worth it. This little house is truly ours. Our style as well as our blood, sweat and tears. Yes. There were all three in this process.

It was definitely a learning and stretching experience as the only updating to our homes we’d done previously was painting. We’re so thankful to those who have gone before us on this RV renovation journey, their videos and blog posts were our teachers every step of the way.

Now we’re ready to move in and hit the road!
