When you think about full-time RV living, the city of Chicago probably isn’t at the top of your list for places to visit. It’s hard to find a good campground that’s close to the city, so we decided to stay with family for a few days and park our trailer in their driveway. Since Rachel and I have visited Chicago before, we decided to drive into the city to see some of the major attractions without spending a lot of money.
As you can probably guess, parking in Chicago can be pretty expensive, especially when you have an oversized vehicle like our truck. To save some cash and secure our parking spot before we got into downtown, we used an app called Spot Hero. Our parking for 6 hours was only $17 which saved us over $10. Lunch was our biggest expense of the day, but we only spent $35 eating at Big Bowl (our girls split a mean). We spend an additional $20 on snack and some special treats at Dylans Candy Bar and the Nutella Shop and $25 split between two Uber rides.
While we didn’t spend a lot of cash, we did have a great time. We strolled down Michigan Ave and explored the Nike, Disney and American Girl Doll stores, did a bit or relaxation and people watching at Navy Pier and then made our way to Millenium Park to see Cloud Gate (akaThe Bean). We did pass over a handful of pair attraction in the city, we did have a fun-filled 6 hours in Chicago.
