Italian house tour

Italy

We’ll soon be packing up our belongings and selling off our furniture, but first we wanted to document our home here in Italy.  This way family and friends in the US can see our place, and also our girls can remember this apartment.

We secured this house while we were still in the US.  Nick’s parents made appointments to tour places we’d found online. They took video and photos of each location and sent it to us to help us make our decision.  When I watched the videos of this place, I got teary eyed. I’m going to live there. I thought. In Italy! That’s going to be the view from my balcony. I remember being so nervous we wouldn’t be able to get this house and I kept telling myself not to love it so much in case it didn’t work out. I’m so glad it worked out – it’s been the perfect place.

It’s centrally located and we’ve managed to go without a car during our time here. That was part of my Italian living dream actually – walking to all the places. And it’s paid off – I’m thinner than when I left the states. The street is pretty quiet, the huge windows let in so much light, the hardwood floors are gorgeous and we have THREE balconies. We filled the place with IKEA furniture, so basically we live in an IKEA catalogue.  We’ve kept things simple and minimal and my heart is happy here. I’ve always been a homebody, and this home will be hard to leave.
